I work with adult and young adult patients, offering an integrated psychiatric and psychotherapeutic approach.

I like to share the importance of taking care of yourself and your psyche even during painful or hard times.

I receive patients in my psychiatric and psychotherapeutic practice on Boulevard des Philosophes in Geneva. I work by appointment only, and offer both in-person and video call consultations.

In both cases, I invite my patients to play an active role in their therapeutical journey, which is designed to be a team effort. As I always stress, a good interpersonal rapport is the basis of psychotherapy.

FARMACOTHERAPY

"Medication is not a magic wand – it helps restore colour to the world"

I understand that taking psychiatric medication can be a frightening idea.

It’s important to remember that medication is not a magic wand, and is not always appropriate.

When medication is necessary, I answer patients’ questions, clarify their doubts, and offer a treatment plan that is well thought out, scientifically correct and that the patient is comfortable with.

Psychotherapy

“The rainbow between black and white"

I believe deeply in psychotherapy, which is the core of treating mental pain.

My training is cognitive-behavioural, an approach that identifies and corrects quasi-subliminal automatic thoughts and dysfunctional behaviours.

Alongside cognitive-behavioural psychotherapy I offer Emotionally Focussed Therapy, a humanistic approach that helps people experience, recognise and regulate their emotions, and deal with mental pain

"An important opportunity to get to know one another and build a relationship of trust"

Your first appointment

I take special care during the initial contact with a patient because I view it as a foundational step in the therapeutic process.
Asking for a psychiatrist’s help is not an easy decision. It is natural to be afraid of not being understood, being judged, showing your suffering and being vulnerable. It can be quite difficult to open up and trust a therapist you do not yet know.

As a psychotherapist and as a person, I view as a privilege the time, trust and commitment of my patients, and their decision to share the intimate and secret parts of their lives with me.

Ongoing mutual understanding is a consistent thread throughout the therapeutic process.

During the first appointment especially, I take the time necessary to understand the patient’s needs, the challenges they are experiencing, and what they hope to gain from therapy.

Contact begins before the first appointment: I personally contact every person who asks for psychiatric support through the form «Request a first consultation».

At that point, I evaluate the person’s needs and the urgency of starting treatment. I also consider how far the therapy request corresponds to my areas of expertise. Based on that assessment, I can either offer suitable support or, if necessary, direct the person to the professional best suited to their situation.

"To deliver the best help possible"

WAITING LIST

Medicine, and psychiatry in particular, teach us the link between the ethiopathogenesis of physical and mental disorders.
I’m a firm believer in the importance of mental health in curing physical illnesses. As the Romans said, “mens sana in corpore sano” – a healthy mind in a healthy body – a saying that all Italian students remember.

I devote a large part of my clinical practice to helping my patients learn to take care of themselves and strike a healthy balance between work, processing their emotions, doing restorative activities and taking time for themselves.

During the pandemic I was working at the University Hospital of Geneva (HUG). During that time there was a significant increase in demand for psychiatric care. When I was managing the day hospital programme of the HUG psychiatry department, I realised that demand had not only risen during the pandemic, but had remained high since.

Personally, I find it difficult not to be able to quickly offer help to new patients at my private practice. At the same time, I am committed to devoting the necessary time and attention to patients I am already supporting.

For that reason, I have had to temporarily limit the admission of new patients and set up a waiting list. If you would like to request support, please fill in this «form». I will contact you personally as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding – this was a difficult decision for me.
